Remind me, please, of what a cool sanctuary my basement studio is this time of year.  Remind me, please, of how I lose myself there, and how in the losing, find myself drinking from the Deep Well, and am sated.  Remind me, please, to skip the drama of articulating my misery next time (i.e., this time tomorrow when I go into the office — on SUNDAY — to make copies, scans, and collate?!!) and just go straight to Source.  No detours.  No sharing my misery with others (what a nice way to put THAT!).

Tomorrow, I will see Shakespeare in the Park on Boston Common with friends.  With that on the calendar, perhaps the Drudge Monster will not gain purchase.

P.S. I clipped the magazine page ages ago because I fell in love with the composition and colors.  When I saw, today, that it is a Winslow Homer, I thought, “well no wonder I love it!!!”  SOME things in life are constant.

Yesterday’s late afternoon run to the beach acted as most important tonic for a heart compressed with busy-ness.
The light was so beautiful at about 7:30.
And we all swam.  There are D. and two friends on the rock, lining up to jump into one of the deep pools that fill the pockets around the rocks at high tide.

Whipping by.  Turning into weeks.  Months.  I haven’t been swimming yet this summer.  Blazing hot, here in the Northeast.  Thank god for AC.  A time to not-mind-so-much having a job indoors all day long.

We celebrated K’s birthday three times because of the comings and goings in our household.

Two round trips to Pennsylvania with a weekend inbetween.  I promised I wouldn’t gripe if D. came home in one piece — and he did.

Most of the pictures I took were while going between 40 and 60 m.p.h.  Most of them too blurry to bother with.

The last hour and a half of the drive to Woodward is very pretty — full of scenes like this one.

Lewisburg was having a street festival the night prior to pick up.

Lots of people were out and about and I saw fireflies and toads for the first time in many, many years.  Why are there no fireflies or toads around here?!!

Not much shade at Woodward.

Shot of  ‘the ghetto’.  D. was up the hill in a much better cabin this year.

Warm light and warm decor at Elizabeth’s, in Lewisburg.  A nice treat.
